Detailed Description

Also known as molybdenum-bearing stainless steel balls, 316 and 316L are used where higher resistance to chloride corrosion and pitting is required.

AISI 316 / 316L Stainless Steel Balls

AISI 316 stainless steel balls are manufactured from austenitic stainless steel with molybdenum addition, improving resistance to chloride attack and pitting corrosion compared with 304.

These balls are widely used in chemical equipment, saltwater-exposure environments and corrosion-sensitive applications where standard stainless steel or chrome steel may not provide sufficient durability.

FAQ
What information do you need for a quotation?
Please provide the ball size, material grade, quantity, grade requirement if any, application and delivery terms such as FOB or CIF.
What is the difference between 316 and 316L stainless steel balls?
316L has lower carbon content than 316, which helps reduce the risk of intergranular corrosion, especially in welded or heat-affected environments.
Why choose 316 instead of 304 stainless steel balls?
316 contains molybdenum, providing improved resistance to chloride attack and pitting corrosion compared to 304. It is more suitable for chemical and saltwater-exposure environments.
Are 316 stainless steel balls suitable for marine environments?
316 stainless steel balls are more suitable than 304 for marine-related and saltwater-exposure applications, depending on actual working conditions.
Are 316 stainless steel balls magnetic?
316 stainless steel is generally non-magnetic in annealed condition, but slight magnetism may occur after cold working. If required, solution annealing can be performed to restore a non-magnetic state.
Can you support custom sizes or specifications?
Yes, we support custom sizes, grade requirements, surface conditions and packaging. MOQ depends on size and specification.
Can you provide samples for testing?
Yes, samples are available for testing and evaluation. Standard sizes are usually available from stock.
Do you provide inspection reports or material certificates?
Yes, inspection reports can cover dimensions, tolerance and surface condition. Material certificates are available upon request.
What packaging options do you offer?
We provide cartons, steel drums, bulk bags and customized packaging according to customer requirements.
Can 316 stainless steel balls be used for high-load bearing applications?
316 stainless steel balls are primarily selected for corrosion resistance rather than hardness. For high-load bearing applications, chrome steel or 440C stainless steel is recommended.
